How to measure yourself

Wear a thin t-shirt, not a jumper. Keep the tape snug but not tight — you should be able to slide a finger underneath. Stand relaxed and breathe normally; do not hold your breath or pull your stomach in, or the gear will fit tighter on the bike than it did in the bedroom. Ask someone to help with the sleeve and back measurements.

1Chest

Around the fullest part of the chest, under the armpits and across the shoulder blades. Keep the tape level all the way round. This is the number that decides your jacket and vest size.

2Waist

Around your natural waist — the narrowest point, roughly level with your navel. This is not where your jeans sit, which is usually 3–5 cm lower.

3Hip / seat

Around the widest part of your seat, with your feet together. Trousers and one-piece suits are cut from this measurement as much as from the waist.

4Sleeve length

From the centre of the back of your neck, across the shoulder and down a slightly bent arm to the wrist bone. Bend the arm — a sleeve measured straight will be short in the riding position.

5Inside leg

From the crotch straight down the inside of the leg to the ankle bone, without shoes. Compare this to the inseam column so the trousers do not ride up over your boots.

6Hand

Around the widest part of your palm, just below the knuckles and excluding the thumb. Use your dominant hand — it is usually the larger of the two. Measured in inches, this number is your glove size.

Chest is the deciding measurement

Motorcycle jacket size chart

Jacket sizing follows your chest measurement. European sizes run ten numbers above American ones — a US 38 is an EU 48. Textile jackets are cut with room for a thermal liner; leather is cut close and will give roughly half a size as it beds in.

Measurements describe your body, not the garment. The jacket itself is cut larger to allow for movement and armour.

Between two sizes?

Take the larger size for a textile or winter jacket — you will want space for a hoodie or thermal layer underneath. Take the smaller size for leather, which stretches and moulds to you. If your chest and waist land in different rows, always follow the chest.

Waist first, then check the inseam

Motorcycle trouser size chart

Riding trousers are sized on the waist, but the inseam matters just as much: in the riding position the knee armour has to sit on your knee, not above it. If your inside leg is more than 3 cm off the figure in the table, check the product page for a short or long version.

American trouser sizing is simply the waist in inches. The European number is that figure plus sixteen — a US 32 is an EU 48.

Knee armour position

Sit on your bike wearing the trousers before you cut the tags off. The armour should cover the kneecap when your leg is bent on the pegs, which means it sits slightly high when you are standing. That is correct, not a fault.

Measure over what you will wear underneath

Motorcycle vest size chart

Vests use the same chest measurement as jackets, with one important difference: most riders wear a leather vest over a jacket, hoodie or shirt. Measure your chest with that layer on, or take one size up from your normal jacket size.

Worn over a jacket? Size up.

A vest that fits perfectly over a t-shirt will not close over a leather jacket. If the vest is going on top of other gear, order one size larger than the chart says — and if you want to fasten it fully rather than wear it open, say so on WhatsApp and we will check the specific cut for you before dispatch.

One measurement, taken round the knuckles

Motorcycle glove size chart

Glove sizing is the most logical system in motorcycling: measure round your palm in inches, and that number is your size. A nine-inch palm is a size 9, which is a medium. European brands print the number, American brands print the letter — both are in the table below.

Gloves should feel tight on day one

A new leather glove that feels snug across the knuckles is correct — leather gives roughly half a size within the first few hundred miles. A glove that feels comfortable in the shop will be loose in a month, and a loose glove bunches inside the palm under braking. There should be no empty space at the fingertips: that gap is where blisters start.

The maths behind the charts

European vs American sizing

Every conversion on this page follows the standard rules used across the motorcycle trade. If you already know your size in one system, you can work out the other in your head.

Quick conversion rules between European and American sizes
Garment Rule Worked example
Men’s jackets & vestsEU = US + 10US 38 → EU 48 (medium)
Men’s trousersEU = US waist in inches + 16US 32 → EU 48 (medium)
Women’s jackets & trousersEU = US + 32  ·  UK = US + 4US 6 → EU 38, UK 10 (medium)
GlovesNumeric size = palm circumference in inches9 in palm → size 9 (medium)

Italian brands often run one size small and American brands one size large. Where a product page carries its own manufacturer chart, that chart wins over this page.

Learned from the returns we process

Five things that go wrong

Measuring over a jumper

A thick layer adds 4–6 cm to your chest and pushes you a whole size up. Measure over a t-shirt, then decide separately what you want to fit underneath.

Using your jeans size

Jeans sit on the hips, riding trousers on the natural waist. The two numbers are rarely the same, and the gap is usually one full size.

Judging fit standing up

Gear is cut for the riding position. Try it sitting on the bike with your hands on the bars — sleeves and trouser legs should reach properly there, not in the hallway.

Ignoring the armour

If shoulder or elbow protectors sit beside the joint rather than on it, the jacket is the wrong size no matter what the chest measurement says.

Buying leather to fit today

Leather gives about half a size as it wears in. Snug on the first ride is right; comfortable on the first ride means loose by summer.

Mixing brands blind

An EU 50 from one maker is not always an EU 50 from another. When you switch brand, re-check the chest and waist figures rather than repeating the label.

Sizing questions we get most

Frequently asked questions

What if I am between two sizes?

Go up for textile and winter gear, where you will want a layer underneath, and go down for leather, which stretches and moulds to you. If your chest and waist fall in different rows on a jacket chart, follow the chest — a jacket that is slightly loose at the waist is fine, one that is tight across the chest is not.

Do European and American sizes really differ?

Yes. On men's jackets the European number is ten higher than the American one, so a US 38 is an EU 48. On men's trousers the American size is your waist in inches and the European number is that figure plus sixteen. Both systems appear in every chart on this page so you never have to convert yourself.

Are the measurements of my body or of the garment?

Of your body. The garment itself is cut larger to leave room for movement and armour. Measure yourself, find the row your numbers fall in, and order that size.

How should motorcycle gloves fit?

Snug across the palm with no empty space at the fingertips, and you should still be able to work the levers and indicator. New leather gloves feel tight for the first few rides and then give about half a size. If they are comfortable straight out of the box they will end up loose.

What size vest do I need if I wear it over a jacket?

One size larger than your normal jacket size. Measure your chest with the jacket on if you want to be certain, and tell us on WhatsApp what you plan to wear underneath — we will check the cut of that specific vest before it ships.

What happens if the size is still wrong?

You have 30 days to exchange it and size swaps are free. Send us a message, we book the collection, and the replacement size goes out as soon as the courier picks up the first parcel. The item needs to be unworn with its tags and original packaging.

Still not sure? Ask us.

Send your chest, waist and height on WhatsApp and we will tell you which size to order in that exact model — before you pay for it.
